Finance for the Gamers

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

We've compiled a list of online finance games that you can play for free. Use this as a "Look, mom, I'm doing something educational!" excuse to play video games. Click the name of the games to play. Please note that these games are not created by or for Money Not Magic.

Shady Sam is a game where you get to pretend to be a loan shark. Your goal is to give your customers the most expensive loan so that you can earn as much money as possible. How many borrowers can you dupe?

College can be a stressful topic to many teens as they approach college decision time. What are you going to do for the rest of your life? Thankfully, Payback allows you to simulate making decisions going through college, so hopefully when it comes time for the real deal, you know what to do.

You're going on a road trip with two of your friends. However, you have to make sure that your trio can make it through the trip safely. You need to budget and handle your money wisely so that you can get to Colorado and hit the slopes!

We keep stressing that you need to know personal finance, but why? In this game, you'll simulate what it's like to not have enough money. You'll have to make hard decisions that low-income families must make everyday.

Race down the football field as you answer trivia-style questions about personal finance. Topics include: budgeting, savings, financial institutions, credit, debt, identity theft, and life events. They also offer lessons that you can view to learn the material that you will be quizzed on.

Uber is a rideshare app that you can download on your smartphone. For those who are unfamiliar with uber, you request a drive through the app, and a (usually) privately owned driver will pick you up and send you to your destination. In the Uber Game, you're taking on the role of an Uber driver with two kids and a $10,000 mortgage payment due in a week. How are you going to become the richest Uber driver?

That's it for this list! Let us know which games you enjoyed and leave a comment with your highest scores.
