About the Workshops

We know that tweens and teens are very busy, so each of our workshops is only thirty minutes long, and there will be a total of fifteen workshops offered biweekly. They will be conducted virtually through Google Meet, and we ask that you join the call in the five minutes prior to the scheduled start time so that we can begin punctually. For every workshop we will have at least two instructors that will be teaching or leading activities. There’s no pressure at all to attend every single workshop that we offer. Each workshop will have a description of what we will be doing, so you can pick which workshops you want to attend.

How Do I Join A Workshop?

Upcoming Workshops will appear at the top of this page (Workshops tab). All workshops will be entirely virtual, and we will meet via Google Meet. Hover over the specific workshop you're interested in to see a quick teaser. Click "See More" to RSVP, view the full event description of what we will be doing during the workshop, and find the time and date of the workshop. Google Meet links will be posted in the event description for anyone who wants to join, regardless of whether or not you RSVP'd. However, you will only be able to earn points for that workshop if you RSVP for the event beforehand on our website (accessible through the "See More" button)! Reminders will be sent out via email three days before the workshop and an invitation to join the Google Meet will be sent a day before to those who RSVP.

Second place can pick anything of their choice from Amazon.com that costs up to $10 (including shipping). Third place will receive a free paperback copy of our book Growing Your Money Tree: An Introduction to Personal Finance.

 Who Can Attend?

Our workshops will be created with middle-school and high-school students as the target audience. However, that does not mean that someone else cannot attend. We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds. The only requirement is that the participant must be relatively fluent in English (all our workshops will be conducted in English) and have access to Google Meet, a video-communication service developed by Google. (You do not need a Google account to participate, although it is strongly recommended.) Even if you are in your twenties, but need help with your personal finances, you’re also welcome!

Safety

For your physical safety, all our workshops will be conducted online for the 2021-2022 academic year in light of the pandemic. Not only are we concerned about your physical safety, but we are also concerned about emotional safety. Thus, we will make sure that our workshops are a safe and non-judgemental space where participants are able to express their opinions. That means that if someone is being disruptive or rude, we will ask them to leave the meeting. If ever at a time you feel that you are being attacked by another individual, do not hesitate to speak up or let one of our instructors know, and we will address the issue. There will always be at least two instructors, so no participant will ever be alone in a one-on-one situation.
